Our NSF IOS proposal was recommended for funding!
Our collaborative proposal with Dr. Henry Adams (Oklahoma State University), Dr. William Pockman (University of New Mexico), and Dr. Nate McDowell (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory) was recommend for funding. We will spend the next three years assessing how and when pinyon pine chemical defenses, non-structural carbohydrates, and physiology change in response to different drought severity and duration. These data will potentially help inform models of thresholds of susceptibility to bark beetles and identify when bark beetles should be considered proximate mechanisms of mortality. So grateful for the opportunity to work with this amazing group of scientists on this research.
